Piano Lessons

Welcome!

Have you always dreamed of playing the piano? Whether you're a complete beginner or revisiting the instrument after years, you're in the right place!

I offer personalized piano lessons in Sacramento for all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a child just starting out, a busy professional seeking a creative outlet, or someone who has always wanted to just play the piano, my lessons are designed to fit your unique learning style and musical goals.

Meet your instructor

Hello! I'm Andrea.

Classical music, and specifically piano, has always been a source of joy and comfort to me. To me, it's an art form that has the rare power to transcend time, space, and language and express fundamental human experiences that we can very much still relate to today. My mission is to instill a love and appreciation for the piano, helping my students find their own unique musical voice.

I truly believe it's never too late to start learning music. Whether you're picking up the piano for the first time or revisiting a childhood hobby, your unique life experiences act as an irreproducible fingerprint on your musical identity. I strive to help you unlock that potential, providing you with the tools and guidance to express yourself through music.

Personalization

I believe that there is no one size fits all method - lessons are tailored to fit your goals, interests, and learning pace. Whether you're interested in classical masterpieces or contemporary pieces, I'll craft a curriculum that resonates with you all while maintaining proper fundamentals.

Support

The best results come from an environment of encouragement, a positive attitude, and a mindset focused not just on the goals, but the process of getting there. Having been a piano student myself, I understand the struggles and roadblocks that occur and can help you through those.

Musicality

There is so much more to music than just notes and rhythms. At their simplest, they are tools for expressing the intentions and sentiments of both the composer and the performer. I emphasize the most exciting thing about music, which is the individuality and unique quality of expression with every student.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own piano?

Yes. It's imperative to have an instrument to practice the concepts learned in each lesson. If not a piano, you will at least need a keyboard of some kind. If you don't have an instrument, I'd be happy to make some recommendations.

Do I need any prior musical experience to take lessons?

Nope!

How often / how much should I practice?

There's no short answer, but I recommend at least 30 minutes per day. The key is quality and focus over quantity. Life can be busy and it's impossible to carve 30 minutes out of some days, so I can help you find ways to maximize your practice time.

What styles of music do you teach?

I specialize in classical music, but I've been known to extend into anime/movie/videogame music. I tailor the repertoire to my students' interests.

What should I expect during a typical lesson?

Generally, I will assess progress from the previous week's lesson, address any issues or blockers, and then provide new material with tutorial on how to practice for the next week, including music theory, technique, and repertoire.

Do you do online lessons?

Currently, I do not teach online. But if you are interested in online lessons, please send me a message and check back here periodically for any updates.
